This was our first stay in Cavtat and at Villa Marlais. I was a little bit aprehensive as we had been to Croatia before and it wasn't the best holiday. But I need not have worried. From the moment Anuska who owns the apartments met us we were made to feel welcome. Our apartment was on the top floor and the views across the bay were stunning. We were only a few minutes walk from from the town centre where there are plenty of restaurants and bars. The harbour is beautiful, lined with flowers and palm trees, the old town is full of history and charm. Our apartment was spotless, towels were changed regularly, bed linen weekly, it was spacious and well equipped. I liked having 2 balconies, 1 for drying and 1 for sitting on. Cavtat is a beautiful place for a relaxing holiday, bus transport is easy and cheap if you want to go to other towns or resorts. The waters are crystal clear and warm. The pace of life is easy, the towns people are welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend Cavtat for a holiday unless you want noise, clubs and all night bars. This is a place to unwind and enjoy the unrushed way of life. Villa Marlais is superbly situated for everything. Beware though, there a lot of steps to get from the main town back up to the apartment, but don't let it put you off. (they help use up all the calories from the amazing ice creams and desserts) There is an alternative but much longer route via the main road and you do get used to all the steps, honest!! There is 1 huge reason for staying at Villa Marlais and that is Anouska. She is without doubt the lovliest, most friendly, generous and helpful person I think I have ever met. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she makes you feel like you are a friend, not just someone staying in her property. We will most definitely be staying again.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 10 brilliant days. The apartment is very nice, clean, modern and well decorated, and more spacious than the photos make out. The shower was very powerful and a lovely relief from the heat, as was the air conditioning. The view from the balcony is absolutely beautiful, again, the photos do not do it justice. Location of apartment was perfect, only a couple of minutes walk to the centre of Cavtat but as it is up the hill it has the amazing views that I'm sure you would not get if you stayed on the peninsula. The owner is brilliant, a lovely welcoming woman who lives on the ground floor so if we had any problems she would have been around to help, but we didn't have any. Cavtat itself is a brilliant place to stay, it has enough tourists to have lots of bars and restaurants but it is small enough to be a perfect relaxing holiday destination. It is close enough to Dubrovnik to easily go there on a day trip but if you want a relaxing break rather than a city break I would highly recommend Cavtat over Dubrovnik. I cannot think of a better place to go on holiday.
